The Via de Cristo Spiritual Renewal
Via de Cristo three day spiritual renewal weekend proclaims the truth
and grace of Jesus Christ. The intent of Via de Cristo is to equip each
of us with the power to be an effective servant in the body of Christ.
Via de Cristo is one of several methods available to the Church to help
renew the faith that is already a gift to believers. Through Via de Cristo
we are encouraged to persevere and grow in our faith and to strengthen
our personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
All events during a Lutheran Via de Cristo of the Rockies weekend,
including the messages, meditations and leisure activities, are
supported by prayer and total dependence upon God. The weekend is
based upon Lutheran theology and sound scriptural principles.

What happens on a Via de Cristo Weekend?
Lutheran Via de Cristo of the Rockies typically hosts coed weekends
for single and married Christians together.
Every Via de Cristo begins on a Thursday evening and concludes the
following Sunday. The three day progression includes worship, songs
of praise, prayer, presentations or messages followed by discussion
and unique fellowship events.
Holy Communion is served on a daily basis. Comfortable lodging and
dining is provided. Participants are placed in small groups of five to
six people. Each small group includes two experienced laypersons
to serve as guides to assist when needed.
An essential part of every weekend is the Spiritual Support Team
who provides spiritual guidance and insight. The team consists of an
ordained Lutheran lead pastor and several other pastors or church
workers. The Spiritual Support Team, like the laypersons who
organize and facilitate the weekends, have attended previous Via de
Cristo weekends as participants.
Who Attends a Via de Cristo Weekend?
Any baptized Christian who would like to experience the love of God in
a very unique way. Any baptized Christian who believes their spiritual
life may need strengthening. Any baptized Christian who may have
questions about prayer, study, and sharing their faith.
Any baptized Christian who is willing to dedicate their everyday lives to
God in an ongoing manner. In other words, any baptized Christian,
whether new in the faith or mature in the faith, married or single, pastor,
church worker, or layperson.

What Happens After a Via de Cristo Weekend?
• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of a VdC weekend are the first three
days of the spiritual renewal experience; the rest of your life is called
the Fourth Day. You can attend a weekend as a "Pilgrim" only once,
but you will learn skills that allow you to build on the experience for the
rest of your life! The Fourth Day Community provides two activities to
foster life in Christ:
• Ultreyas (which means “Onward”) are monthly gatherings for
fellowship and praise.
• Group Reunions are small groups that meet on a weekly basis to
continue study and to support each other in faith.
• Participation in these events can be an integral part of the Via de
Cristo experience but, as with all weekend activities, they are voluntary.
• There will also be ongoing opportunities to participate in subsequent
weekends as a team member, pray for those attending, and
contributing financially. Via de Cristo three day spiritual renewal
weekend proclaims the truth and grace of Jesus Christ. The intent of
Via de Cristo is to equip each of us with the power to be an effective
servant in the body of Christ.
